Leh

After 5 action-packed days, we started our return journey towards Leh. We covered Diskit monastery also known as Diskit Gompa which is the oldest and largest Buddhist monastery in the Nubra valley. It is situated on a hill, just above flood plains of the Shlok river, on its right bank is the Diskit village.

While we were on the go, our staple diet became Maggi, thukpa and momos. The Ladakhi people were extremely caring and loving. The Language spoken by them was so soothing. The greetings with the word julley, wearing a smile comforts you to the core. And nobody interfered in our personal space yet so many acknowledged our presence. It gave us deep sense of belonging. There were instances when people went out of their way to make our trip memorable. We took the same route through Khardung La pass. The road had such a breath taking view showcasing such a contrast over a span of 100 kms.

We reached the market at 5 pm and spent the evening in the Leh market, shopping. At night, we went to a German bakery for their mouth-watering delicacies after which we headed back to our hotel to sleep relatively early for reviving our energy for the next day.

Next up is my road trip towards Pangong Tso.

Stay tuned.

Love,
